Port Miami,is a seaport located in Biscayne Bay in Miami, Florida, United States.
The port is located on Dodge Island, which is the combination of three historic islands (Dodge, Lummus and Sam's Islands) that have since been combined into one.
The Port of Miami is recognized, and has been for many years, as the "Cruise Capital of the World" and "Cargo Gateway of the Americas".

It has retained its status as the number one cruise/passenger port in the world for well over two decades accommodating the largest cruise ships in the world and the operations of such major cruise lines as Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line.

As the "Cargo Gateway of the Americas", the port primarily handles containerized cargo with small amounts of breakbulk, vehicles and industrial equipment. 


It is the largest container port in the state of Florida and ninth in the United States. As a world-class port, the Port of Miami is among an elite group of ports in the world which cater to both cruise ships and containerized cargo.
 

Among North American ports, it ranks second only to the Port of South Louisiana in New Orleans in terms of cargo tonnage imported/exported from Latin America. 
The port is on 518 acres and has 7 passenger terminals. 
China is the port's number one import country, and Honduras is the number one export country. 
Miami has the world's largest amount of cruise line headquarters, home to: Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, and Windjammer Barefoot Cruises.

Port of Dover,UK

Dover seaport dates back to the early 17th century and is one of the busiest and most popular ports in the world. 
Dover, situated on the south-east tip of England and in close proximity to the Continent, has always been of importance to cross-Channel traffic and the history and origins of the Port can be traced right back to Roman times. 
The deep cleft in the hills formed in prehistoric times by the River Dour, has always given protection to the small ships plying across the Strait. 

Dover Port boasts state-of-the-art facilities to serve over 16 million passengers and 2.5 million cars and coaches every year. Dover also serves approximately two million freight vehicles annually.

Port facilities 
There are two docks at the Port of Dover, including the Eastern Docks, which serves the majority of the ferry traffic, and the Western Docks.
 
The Port of Dover offers a wide range facilities including 24-hour access, no locks or tidal restrictions and a minimum quay water depth of 8.5 metres. As a result, vessels can berth at any time - day or night - taking as little as 40 minutes.

It also has 9 available berths and 2 piers.
The Terminal is also ISO 9001 accredited and offers the following facilities which ensure fast, efficient and flexible turnarounds:

  • Two mobile harbour cranes, full forklift and pallet truck fleets, container handlers, tugmaster units plus four-pallet spreaders.
  • 13,000 sq. metres of ambient, temperature-controlled storage capacity.
  • All-weather outloading for up to 7,500 pallets.
  • Two-pallet, four-pallet and six-pallet capacity fruit cages to ensure quicker turn-around time.

Port of Kobe,Japan

Kobe Port, originally an excellent natural harbor, flourished as a hub of trading with the Chinese continent and Korean peninsula during ancient and medieval times. Since 1868, when Kobe Port opened as a major Japanese international port, it has supported Japanese lives and industries.


Port of Kobe is the fourth busiest port in Japan. It is located in the central part of the Japanese Archipelago and lies on the major routes of international marine-transportation networks, connecting over 500 ports in 130 countries.


The port has a beautiful landscape with the Rokko Mountains at its rear and the City of Kobe nearby. The Rokko Mountains also protect the port by blocking the seasonal winds.

Statistics-

The Rokko Island Ferry Terminals consist of three berths, RF1, RF2 and RF3.  
  • The berth RF1 has a water depth of 7.5m, length of 193m and terminal area of 17,390m². 
  • RF2 has a water depth of 9m, length of 266m and terminal area of 24,920m².
  • RF3 terminal, covering an area of 22,690m², has a berth length of 238m and an alongside depth of 8.5m.
The Rokko Island Container Terminals have four berths with,
  • total area of 612,500m². 
  • All these berths have a water depth of 14m. 
  • Three of the berths are 350m long while the fourth is 530m. 
  • Berths RC4 and RC5 are operated by Nitto Total Logistics and Mitsubishi Logistics Corporation.
  •  RC6 and RC7 are operated by Mitsubishi Logistics Corporation, UNI-X Corporation and Nippon Container Terminal.
The Port Island Container Terminals cover, 
  • total area of 786,880m² 
  • contain six berths. 
  • These terminals are operated by The Sumitomo Warehouse, Shosen Koun, Sankyu, Nickel & Lyons, The Mitsui Soko and Kamigumi. 
  • The Port Island's KPTC Conventional Liner Terminals have an alongside depth of 10m and a length of 200m.
  • The combined terminal area is 241,345m² and the transit shed floor area is 68,926m².
The Naka Pier Cruise Terminal and Kobe Port Terminal are the two cruise terminals at the Port of Kobe. 
  • The Naka Pier Cruise Terminal 
  1. handles medium-sized passenger vessels
  2. It has a length of 286m, an alongside depth of 9m and an apron depth of 20m.
  • The Kobe Port Terminal 
  1. comprises six berths, three on each side of Shinko Pier No. 4.  
  2. Berths Q1, Q2 and R are located on the east side and have a total length of 649m. 
  3. Located on west side, berths O1, O2 and P have a total length of 589m.
